August 4, 2020 @ 6:00PM — 7:30PM
Join the Women's Foundation and other community members to read and learn together about racial justice, white supremacy and how to take anti-racist actions through our Book Circle. We will read books and articles together, then facilitate authentic discussion about the content. We will begin with "Me and White Supremacy" by Layla F. Saad.
Buy the book now and start reading it. We recognize that it can be difficult to find a hard copy at the moment, we suggest downloading digital version as an ebook or audiobook. You can listen for 10 minutes a day and engage in the journal and personal exploration of these important topics. You will want to have a journal ready to write notes and explore the ideas presented by the author.
The Women’s Foundation will host a Zoom conversation on Tuesday, July 14th at 6pm to check in mid-month and then another Zoom on Tuesday, Aug 4th at 6pm after we’ve completed "Me and White Supremacy: A 28-Day Challenge to Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor”
Register to participate and you will receive emails during July as we all read, explore how to combat racism and take responsibility for our actions.
Me and White Supremacy: A 28-Day Challenge to Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor leads readers through a journey of understanding their white privilege and participation in white supremacy, so that they can stop (often unconsciously) inflicting damage on black, indigenous and people of color, and in turn, help other white people do better, too. The book goes beyond the original workbook by adding more historical and cultural contexts, sharing moving stories and anecdotes, and includes expanded definitions, examples, and further resources.
